Although Rosslyn Chapel’s possible links to the Freemasons or resemblance to the former Temple in Jersualem have been hotly disputed, enthusiasts have nicknamed St Edmund’s “Britain’s greatest Masonic secret”.
A word of advice about the Middle East – we’ve reached the ‘tipping point’ with cliches - Comment - Voices - The Independent
A word of advice, therefore, for Middle East potentates, dictators, Western poseurs, television presenters and journos. Do not use the following words or expressions in 2013: moderate, democracy, step down, step aside, tipping point, falling into the wrong hands, closing in, spilling over, options on the table or – terror, terror, terror, terror. Too much to hope for? You bet. We’ll even get another load of cliches from the goodness factory to replace those that have already served their purpose.
The bigger the lie the more people will believe it. We all know who said that – but it still works. Bashar al-Assad has chemical weapons. He may use them against his own Syrian people. If he does, the West will respond. We heard all this stuff last year – and Assad’s regime repeatedly said that if – if – it had chemical weapons, it would never use them against Syrians.

First of all, while it’s a travesty that new oil is still polluting the Gulf after all this time, it’s fantastic to see Bonny Schumaker and On Wings of Care receive national credit for the amazing work that they do. In fact, the CBS piece was illustrated with some of Bonny’s photos that revealed BP’s new pollution. They were pictures that neither BP or the authorities wanted people to see, and Bonny Schumaker showed great courage in obtaining these images and releasing them to the public. The hidden story of Deepwater Horizon is the effort that many private citizens have undertaken to reveal the truth of the spill and its severe impacts on the ecology of the Gulf Coast and on human health.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. lawmakers said they were turning to the U.S. Coast Guard to get information about sheen from the Deepwater Horizon oil rig accident.
The Coast Guard, BP and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have worked to assess sheen observed in the Gulf of Mexico in late September. The Coast Guard confirmed the sheen was from the well that failed in 2010 and backed plans for a subsea survey.
